Expecting the unexpected.

So, when I travel I try to marvel in the unexpected or unplanned things that happen. Let me tell you about what happened today. (By the way, we still have internet - a nice surprise when I got back to the ship).

Yangon, Myanmar:
It was interesting walking around Yangon today. As you can imagine, there aren't many tourists, especially blonde/blue-eyed tourists, that come here. The folks I was walking around with said that it was like walking around with a movie star. Whistles, stares etc. Jeepers... fun for awhile, got old quick though.

It is monsoon season here in Myanmar and Nam, Debbie and I sought shelter under an awning for a moment during a rainfall today. The awning was in front of a store and in an effort to talk to them, my back was to the sidewalk and street and I was facing the store. The next thing I know someone had grabbed a small amount of my hair (a little less than a ringlet) and yanked it out of my head. Seriously though? I was so taken aback I didn't shout or anything, just turned quickly and saw the person walking away. What's really surprising about this is that it's very taboo to touch someone's head in this primarily Buddhist country.

Other than that, the people are great and I think I'm going to learn a lot from this port and the people in it.

Just read it. Oh my gosh! All these phrases come to mind... If they so much as touch a hair on my kid's head, I'll....Some people just make you want to pull your hair out ... Watch your backside girl!

Maybe a hat would be a good souvenir?

You are prayed for and loved!
